Tommy Lee-5-1024x1024Lee was born Thomas Lee Bass on October 3, 1962, in Athens, Greece, to father David Lee Thomas Bass, an American U.S. Army sergeant and mother Vassiliki "Voula" Papadimitriou (Greek: Basilike Papademetriou), an actress on the 1957 Miss Greece beauty contest. He is the younger brother of Athena, who is also drummer. Lee was two years old when his father moved the family to California. He also received his first drumsticks around the age of four and his first real drum set at 16. He left high school to pursue the career of a musician and began in the L.A. club band Suite 19. 5. As a teenager, he loved listening to Van Halen and Led Zeppelin as well as Kiss, AC/DC, Cheap Trick, Kiss and Led Zeppelin. John Bonham, Tommy Aldridge and Alex Van Halen were his primary drumming influences. Terry Bozzio is also a significant influence.
