Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada but grew up in the United States. She's been a media critic since 1995. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, comments and an analysis of the way in which popular culture portrays women. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and a prestigious feminist for more than a decade. Feminist Frequency is a site dedicated to education, which examines women's role in the narratives of pop culture, is her brainchild. She also serves as the executive director. As well as working to highlight the problems surrounding sexual harassment and assaults on women and other minorities in online spaces she is dedicated to breaking down the stigmas and stereotypes associated with popular culture. Sarkeesian has a Master's degree in the field of political and social thought at York University. As a public speaker, she's extremely sought-after and has given talks at TEDxWomenXOXO as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Feminist Frequency was launched on the 9th of September 2009 by Sarkeesian, a University student who has been involved in topics related to gender and feminism for a long period of. She had a plan to launch a web series on gender representation in video games. However, she was the subject of a harassment online campaign. It was not enough to stop her. In fact, it strengthened her commitment as a feminist and media critique. Numerous awards have been awarded to her as a way of acknowledging all the contributions that she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian has been a journalist for a long time and was the creator of Feminist Frequency. The educational nonprofit explores women's representations within the popular culture stories.
